Get chicken
Make ready medium potato
Take medium onions
Take small tomatoes
Take green chilies
Take garlic cloves

Steps to make Chicken Masala:
Marinate chicken pieces with 2 tsp of whisked curd, 1 tsp each of ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 red chilli powder, little salt and oil for at least 2 hrs.
Smear potato chunks with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp red chilli powder & very little salt and fry it till golden in colour.
Heat oil in a pan, add 1 roughly chopped onion fry it for 2 minutes, add ginger and garlic, fry it for another 2-3 mins, add roughly chopped tomatoes, little salt and fry everything well for about 3-4 mins. Cool this mixture and make a smooth paste by adding little water.
In the same pan, add some more oil, add the dry red chillies, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cardamoms & cloves fry it a bit. Add the remaining finely chopped onion, add little sugar and fry it well for 3-4 mins.
Next add the ground paste and cook the masala well for next 3-4 mins.
Next lower the flame, add the remaining turmeric powder, red chilli powder along with cumin powder and coriander powder, add little water at a time and cook the masala well. Add some Kashmiri red chilli powder and cook the masala well for about 5-6 mins.
Next add 2 tsp of whisked curd, mix it well and cook it for 2-3 mins, add the marinated chicken and fry it on a medium flame for about 5-6 minutes.
Next add salt to taste and the fried potatoes and mix everything well.
Add 1 cup of warm water, cover and cook on a low until the chicken and potato are completely cooked. Lastly add some slitted green chilies, kasuri methi, garam masala powder and chopped coriander. Cover and cook it for another 2-3 minutes and it's done.
