The ingredients needed to make Gajrela:
  1. Make ready 1 small carrot
  2. Get 100 grams rice
  3. Get 125 mili litre sweetened condensed milk
  4. Make ready 20 mili litre milk

  6. Prepare Handful peeled pistachios
  7. Take 1 tablespoon ground green cardamom
Instructions to make Gajrela:
  1. Soak the rice for 30 minutes prior cooking
  2. During the soaking period, peel and grate the carrot fine and sliver the pistachios
  3. Post soaking, strain the rice well
  4. Melt ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the rice and carrot
  5. Sauté on Low flame for 5-7 minutes
  6. Add the milk followed by the condensed milk
  7. Mix well and stir every 2-3 minutes as the gajrela thickens and the rice cooks
  8. Add the cardamom powder just before you take off he gajrela off heat
  9. Mix well and divide the gajrela in serving bowls
  10. Garnish with sliced pistachios and enjoy warm or refrigerate if you prefer a sweet treat!
