Make ready Half cup boiled chana

Get 2 tbsp coarsely grinded coconut

Prepare 1 tbsp ginger paste
Make ready 1 tsp cumin powder
Prepare 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Prepare 2 bay leaves
Get 1 inch cinnamon stick
Take 2-3 green cardamoms
Take 1 black cardamom
Get 1 tsp sugar
Get 1 tsp garam masala powder
Make ready 1 tsp turmeric powder
Take 2 tbsp ghee
Take 1 tbsp oil
Take as per taste Salt
Steps to make Mochar Ghonto (banana flower):
First grease your palms with oil then extract the florets from the banana flower (mocha).
Remove the black long stem-like structure from each floret. It is a hard part of the flower which is too hard to boil and difficult to digest.
Then wash and chop the florets and boil with salt and turmeric powder. Boil till they become soft, keep aside after boiling.
Heat ghee+oil in a kadhai. Temper with whole garam masala, bay leaves and cumin seeds.
Now add ginger paste and cumin powder. Fry well.
Now add coconut paste, turmeric powder and salt. Fry for sometime. Add the boiled chopped florets, cook again for sometime. At this point add the fried potatoes and boiled chana.
Add ghee and 1tsp garam masala before turning off the flame.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
